Service of Documents
This office does not accept service of any kind, including, but not limited to subpoenas, claims, complaints, discovery requests, or legal documentation of any kind through this website, or the email associated with it.

Language Access Plan
This office is committed to providing language access for assistance with vital documents and matters of a legal consequence. This includes informing English language learners of their right to ask for interpretation or translation, translating written materials and signs, and providing access to interpreters. If this office does not follow these guidelines, you may file a complaint, which you can do anonymously, although if you don’t give us your name, we cannot ask you questions or tell you what happened with your complaint. For questions or support, please contact language.access@lacity.org.

No General Legal Advice or Referrals
The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office cannot respond to legal questions and is prohibited from answering legal questions under California Business & Professions Code section 6131. This office also cannot refer you to a lawyer.

No Criminal Case Inquiries
Pursuant to Rule 2-100 of the California Rules of Professional Conduct, the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office is prohibited from communicating directly or indirectly with you regarding your criminal case if you are represented by an attorney. If you have an attorney, have him or her contact this office.
